Description
During this class, students will learn how to paint a bright tropical beach scene using oil paints. We will explore how to layer colors to create a sense of depth and capture the movement of ocean waves. Color mixing will be discussed as we mix rich greens for the shoreline vegetation and palm trees. Blending techniques will be taught and used to create soft clouds and reflective water. This impressionistic style painting is very forgiving and is a great option for those wanting to start their journey with oil paints! All supplies are included for this workshop.

Description
Join artist Nancy Lyons for another Botanical Drawing workshop! Pansies bring lovely colors to any garden. They are known for their vibrant and “face- like” blooms. In this class students will learn some history of botanical plates and the basics of Botanical Drawing. They will begin by drawing basic forms from nature and shade with neutral tones onto paper. Then they will ayer on top with colored pencils. By the end of class students will have created a lovely pansy, which symbolizes loving thoughts.

Description
Join award-winning local artist Matt Kestner for a 1 day demo and workshop. This class will help students improve their skills and is open to artists of all skill levels. Students will learn how to create the illusion of expansion, light, and an emotionally-rich image using a limited pastel palette. This workshop will focus on light pastel on black paper to create a dramatic portrait.
Matt will offer a demo (free & open to the public) from 10am-12:30pm. The workshop will start after a half-hour break at 1pm. Workshop students are welcome to come early for the demo or just come for the workshop starting at 1pm. All supplies for this workshop are included.

Description
Students will learn some history of botanical plates and the basics of Botanical Drawing with artist Nancy Lyons during this workshop. The process of Botanical Drawing begins with gradual toning with simple geometric shapes that create all the forms found in nature. We will begin our forms by layering neutral tones and putting color on top with colored pencils. This process will make your piece three-dimensional and pop off the page! By the end of class students will have created a Black-Eyed Susan.

Description
Join experienced local ceramic artist Mariah Johnson for a 1 day workshop! An udu drum is a Nigerian percussive instrument consisting of a clay pot with two openings originating from the Igbo people. It has been traditionally used for ceremonial music and is known for its deep, earthy tones. In this workshop, students will create their own udu drum! Students will become familiar with clay’s degrees of plasticity and how to effectively use tools and techniques to bring their vision to life through manipulation of this medium and embellishment. This hands-on, beginner friendly workshop welcomes those who have no experience with clay as well as those who want to continue developing their skills and learn more about surface treatments. Clay, studio glazes, and kiln firings are included. Students will need basic pottery tools and may bring their own or purchase a Potter’s Tool Kit at the studio for $15. Please wear secure footwear-- no open-toed shoes!

A 1 day All Day or Half Day Camp for your blooming artists! Students will have the opportunity to experience it all-- drawing, painting, clay, and more! They will be led by professional artists to develop their skills--while having much fun! All supplies are included for this workshop. Students must bring a packed lunch, water, and a snack for our breaks. Students should bring a smock or wear clothes they can get messy!​
