Description
Learn how to draw in this introductory drawing course with learned artist Ilona Zabolotna. Drawing is an absolutely fundamental skill worth mastering--- no matter your medium of choice! Students will learn about how to "see" as an artist. Lessons on perspective, composition, contouring, shading, and color value will be given as students are guided through the rendering process. This 6 week course is perfect for those who are brand-new beginners or those who could benefit from a refresher. This session will focus on perspective. All supplies are provided (+ $15 due at booking).

THURSDAYS
PRIVATE ACRYLIC STUDIO SESSION

Supplies: Students will need a canvas, paints, brushes, and a palette. You can purchase our Painter's Supply Kit here at our studio ($50), which includes most of what you'll need to get started (brushes are sold separately).
Description
Learn how to paint with acrylics in this Private Studio Session. Cynthia will personally walk you through several different lessons and techniques such as composition, perspective, color mixing, brush work and more with the assumption that you've never painted before. If you have painted before but want to develop your skills in a focused and personalized environment, Cynthia will meet you where you're at.
*After your private, 1-on-1 session, you are welcomed and encouraged to continue your work during our Perpetual Acrylic Painting (10am-12pm | $25/Single Session or $75/Monthly Bundle). During this 2-hour session the instructor will continue to guide and support you, along with the other students, however you may need.

Description
Learn how to paint with acrylics during our Perpetual Acrylic Painting sessions. An instructor will serve to guide you in painting technique, composition, color mixing, brush work, etc. Bring your own painting or start a new painting during your session!

Description
Join award-winning local artist Matt Kestner for a 1 day demo and workshop. This class will help students improve their skills and is open to artists of all skill levels. Students will learn how to create the illusion of expansion, light, and an emotionally-rich image using a limited pastel palette.

Matt will offer a demo (free & open to the public) from 10am-12:30pm. The workshop will start after a half-hour break at 1pm. Workshop students are welcome to come early for the demo or just come for the workshop starting at 1pm. All supplies for this workshop are included.

Join experienced watercolorist Karen J. F. Cooper, an award winning artist and Oakroom Artist, for a 2 day workshop. Learn how to capture the feeling and essence of subjects by exploring color, value, edges, design, and various techniques unique to watercolor during week 1. During week 2 students will be painting several small studies and learning the basics of how to frame artwork. Description
During this beginner oil painting class students will learn how to paint a vibrant flower. We’ll focus on simple techniques to capture color, form, and texture. Students will explore the warm hues of the flower to capture its glow and discover how to use light and shadow to show dimension. Brush work will be emphasized during this class as we learn how to apply softness to suggest the flower's surrounding greenery. This painting is perfect for beginners and the instructor offers a step-by-step approach so all students both create their own beautiful and expressive floral painting and building their foundational oil, painting skills. All levels are welcome for this class and all supplies are included.

Description
During this class, students will learn how to paint a bright tropical beach scene using oil paints. We will explore how to layer colors to create a sense of depth and capture the movement of ocean waves. Color mixing will be discussed as we mix rich greens for the shoreline vegetation and palm trees. Blending techniques will be taught and used to create soft clouds and reflective water. This impressionistic style painting is very forgiving and is a great option for those wanting to start their journey with oil paints! All supplies are included for this workshop.
