Workshop Date: Saturday, July 25, 2026 Who: Adults When: Saturday, July 25 | 12-4pm (4 Hours) Pricing: $85 All Supplies Included Description Join experienced local ceramic artist Mariah Johnson for a 1 day workshop! An udu drum is a Nigerian percussive instrument consisting of a clay pot with two openings originating from the Igbo people. It has been traditionally used for ceremonial music and is known for its deep, earthy tones. In this workshop, students will create their own udu drum! Students will become familiar with clay’s degrees of plasticity and how to effectively use tools and techniques to bring their vision to life through manipulation of this medium and embellishment. This hands-on, beginner friendly workshop welcomes those who have no experience with clay as well as those who want to continue developing their skills and learn more about surface treatments. Clay, studio glazes, and kiln firings are included. Students will need basic pottery tools and may bring their own or purchase a Potter’s Tool Kit at the studio for $15. Please wear secure footwear-- no open-toed shoes!
