Terry Teitelbaum

Terry Teitelbaum’s paintings and pastels reflect the beauty of the natural world and its constant
changes. She cultivated her sensitivity for nature and the landscape at a young age, during summer
visits to her grandmother’s farm and through her world travels as an adult.
Her expertise in color, form and texture was developed during her former career in the fashion
industry. Teitelbaum received degrees in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)
in New York City (1967) and from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York (1969) and won awards at Pratt
for her designs.
She set up a studio on her property in Cambridge, N.Y. and continued her exploration of style, design
and color through custom design work as well as supervising the design and construction of costumes
for Bennington College’s Theater Department in Vermont.
After decades of working with thousands of yards of fabric and a variety of textures and colors,
Teitelbaum was ready to expand her creative exploration. Feeling an intense desire to use pigment to
express her inner thoughts, she picked up a paint brush and began a new direction: painting. Her
medium gradually evolved to include oil paint, pastels, and other mixed media.
Terry Teitelbaum has exhibited her work at ASA Landscapes For Landsake, Cambridge, NY
2018-2023, The 88th National Juried Exhibition Cooperstown, NY, ADK Pastel Society National Juried
Shows, and galleries throughout the region. Her work has been juried into solo exhibitions at the
Southern Vermont Art Center, Manchester, VT, Ti Arts Gallery, Ticonderoga, NY, LARAC (Lower
Adirondack Regional Arts Council), Glens Falls, NY. and the Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs,
NY in 2020 & 2023. Terry’s artwork can be found in many public and private collections across the
country.
