Ruth Crotty
Saratoga Springs, NY
Ruth Crotty, born in New City, NY and now resides in Saratoga Springs, NY, has a BFA in painting from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA, 1969. Since 1992 she has shown in upstate NY, and belongs to organizations in Saratoga, Albany, Warren and Franklin Counties. She is adept at using all mediums, preferring watercolor, oil, and gouache. The process of using paint is as important as the subjects. She wants the viewer to see the directional brush strokes of oil, the fluidness and transparency of watercolor and both in gouache. The nuances of light and its impact on color and texture intrigue her, creating a mood. She captures it, and passes the experience to the viewer. Ruth participates in many types of shows. In 2024 the juried shows include The Art of NY Art Juried Show, Arkell, The Annual Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors at the View, Expressions 2024: Annual Art Show, NCA, and won Outstanding Portrait, 72nd Central Adirondack Art Show, View.
